Brian is one of Holland’s best salsa dancers. He is in particular noted for his creativity on the dance floor. Brian has a unique style and never refuses a challenge. He eats, drinks and lives salsa. This is one of the main reasons he started his own show group, and given his addiction it was impossible to name the group anything but ‘Salsaddiction’.

 

Mechteld has many years experience as a ballet dancer, choreographer, entertainer and with theatre dance. She participated in countless national and international dance competitions. Even as a professional dancer, she became very successful As a professional dancer she was always looking for something inspiring and dynamic. A few years later she came in contact with salsa and a new love was born. She concludes that salsa was exactly what she were looking for. After intensive salsa study in Holland and abroad as a salsa teacher, she established her own dance school and formation team.
In this period she started a close cooperation with Brian Libier.

 

In 2003 the show group came first in the ‘European Championship’. During the ‘Curaçao Salsa Tour’ Brian and Mechteld came third in 2004 and second in 2005. 2006 was a terrific year for Brian and Mechteld. They are 3 times Dutch Open Salsa Championschip, 2006, 2007 and 2008. The EK European Salsa Championships in Bognor Regis and they were finalists in the top 10 in 2006 and 11 place in 2007 of the World Championships. Brians slogan is: ‘Don’t think, just feel’.

Gil is well-known internationally for his creative and unique turn patterns and shines which he teaches with an absolute emphasis on technique and a sense of humour. He is a world championship level performer, having represented Mexico and Austria with Anke Obermayer. Their notable achievements include second place in the European Championships Zurich, and third in the world in the Salsa Open, Athens.

Shelley is an infectiously enthusiastic dancer who is widely acknowledged as one of the UK’s most popular teachers and performers. Together with Lee Wright, they held several national and international competition titles including European Bronze and Silver Medallists and World Semi-Finalists and Top UK Dance Act. Shelley has made numerous appearances on National TV including BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing and the Kiss FM Urban Music Awards. UK salsa champions 2008, Sami and pilar are the youngest salsa couple dancing in the uk and have been dancing together for 3 years, come from a dancing background having studied ballet, contemporary and musical theatre. Sami and pilar exploded onto the salsa scene in 2009 and have been at the biggest salsa festival and congresses since.

Sami and Pilar as well as bieng brought up dancing salsa in thier native colombia have been taught by some of the best international and resident teachers. Sami and Pilar have been taught by Ricardo and Viviana (world champions 2005/2006), Swing Latino (world salsa champions 2007/2008) Carolina and Cesar Velasquez Resident tango champions and Philip Langlais resident teacher and performer. They have a great energy and connection when dancing. with thier fast footwork and lift and dips sami and pilar are a must see.  Managed by the one and only Moe Flex, Sami and pilar are the biggest talent in the uk.
 

 

 

 

Giles & Rosa

Giles & Rosa have established themselves in the UK and internationally as technical salsa/mambo teachers and performers.  Throughout the years, they have directed several Student Performance Groups and they have been coaching the Oxford University Salsa Team.
 
Internationally, Giles and Rosa have taught and performed at numerous congresses with their Dance Company IGNITE (with Marcus and Saori).  Their choreography is characterised by high energy and technical turn patterns which are breathtaking.

 
Giles & Rosa believe that salsa should be fun and they ensure their lessons and workshops are not only technical but also enjoyable.  So come and join their ever so popular classes!

 

 

 

Rohan Brown

 

 

 

Rohan Brown specialises in LA, Cuban, and 3somes. Fluidity, natural body movement, positive mental attitude and having loads of fun is what defines his career. Rohan has been featured on two major television documentaries (Confidence Lab and How Music Works) and has made quite an impression on everyone with whom he works. He is well known for his dance accomplishments worldwide including master of ceromonies, touring South Africa and the USA, performing at various congresses and co- producing salsa holidays in Spain, Cuba and the Caribbean.

Rohan has, embroidered himself in the main fabric of the global movement of salsa entertainment. Definitely someone to spice up your salsa night by personality alone.

 

 

 

Ronald & Vivienne

Vivienne

Vivienne was born on 11 October 1987 in Rotterdam. Raised by her Spanish mother and  Portugees father. At a very young age her mother encouraged her to dance ballet. After 2 years she stopped and started doing  gymnastics. Also this didn’t last for long.


At the age of 14 Vivienne started her first salsa class with her father and never stopped dancing salsa since that day. At that same age she also started dancing the Argentine tango and also this dance stole her heart.  Now at the age of 21 she has danced in several showgroups and is still dancing in the group Salsaddiction (lead by Brian and Mechteld).  Vivienne also wanted to use her own creativity and started dancing in 2007 with a partner. Vivienne is known for her energetic and technical dancing, with tremendous talent for spinning  and lots of presence. She knows to combine this with her very refined way of moving. She maintains very high standards with her elegance, suppleness and finishing.


Ronald


Ronald was born on 3  August 1987 in Amsterdam . Raised by his Dutch mother, and his father is from Curacao. Ronald has only a few years of (salsa) dancing experience. He used to be a professional football player until he was 18, but then his father introduced him to Salsa. He started practicing and travelling a lot, and suddenly his role-model Brian Libier asked him to dance for his group Salsaddiction.  He started training even more, still pushing his development. Ronald his strength is his love for music, and to interpret this in his dance. He’s very dedicated, with a very fast and variety style.


Ronald & Vivienne


Since 2008 Ronald and Vivienne started dancing together and have succeeded to become 2nd Place at the Curacao Salsatour in 2008. Now they are one of the top dancers in the Netherlands and they are booked almost every weekend and starting to perform not only in their own country but also in the rest of Europe.

 

 

 

Alex & Anna

For the First time, Alex & Anna the co-representatives of  the Med Israeli Congress, are coming to Scotland. Being a former ballroom champion in Israel, Anna brings the elegance and the style, the craziness and the funk are brought by Alex, a certified lunatic. With their breath taking shows and unique sexy style they conquer the eyes and the hearts of the audience both on stage and on the dance floor. They are the co-establishers of the Latino-Smile Dance Company in Israel; a practice over 5 years of teaching gains them the unique teaching techniques which guides them through their workshops. Lady-Styling as basically the second  name of Anna and Alex is known over his it-looks-complicated-but-so-easy-to-do combinations.

They have only been partners for the past two years, but their resume includes: Limburg Salsa Congress, Cyprus Salsa Congress, Luxemburg Salsa Congress, World Salsa Meeting in Italy, Warsaw Summer Salsa Festival, Salsa Jam in Cyprus, Berlin Salsa Congress, Greek Salsa Festival, Turkey Salsa Festival.. and more to come. Off the stage they preach for musicality, expression and Peace through Salsa.

 

 

 

Lee Hunter

Lee's career started at the age of eleven doing all types of dance including, Disco, Latin and Ballroom. At the age of fifteen he was ranked 2nd in the world as Junior (under 16) for Latin American. At eighteen, he was approached to move to Holland to compete again and to teach in one of the largest dance studios in Holland with over 1800 students.

Reaching 2nd place in the National Dutch Championships Latin American discipline and 3rd place in the Ballroom discipline Lee was given the opportunity to represent Holland in the World championships, achieving a world ranking of 28th. After travelling as far a field as Eastern Russia, Denmark, Austria, Germany, France and Belgium, including appearances on Come Dancing and Dutch National TV, Lee returned to England in 1996 to continue to teach Ballroom and Latin.

Dvir & Dori are one of the most leading couples in the Israeli salsa scene and the co –presenters of the Israeli Med Salsa Congress. They have been performing and instructing together since 2002. From early childhood they were drawn to dancing and when they discovered Salsa, it was a love at first sight!

Dvir & Dori are not only known for their extraordinary and unique choreographed performances, but also for their special interpersonal bond. Over the years they have developed their unique style which is evident in their stunning performances & workshops. 

Dori began performing as a professional ice skater in the Israeli National Team, where she internationally competed and won several time, a fact that explains her spectacular classic style. During a very short period they broke into the international salsa scene, and now, they are performing & instructing all over Europe and the Middle East.

Jennifer Silvas has been dancing for 26 years and is trained in all styles: Jazz, Hip-Hop, Ballet, Tap, Salsa, and Swing. She has had a very successful dance career. She has worked with artists as big as Pink and Cher and has been in numerous commercials and television shows! In salsa,  she has danced with the best of the best: Alex Da Silva, Salsa Brava, Royalty Salsa, Rudy Zalez, Willie Watana, Francisco Vazquez and the "Prince of Salsa" Johnny Vazquez! She now travels the world performing and teaching, doing what she loves to do...sharing salsa with the world!!!

Mauricio Reyes

Originally from Latin America but based in Birmingham (UK), Mauricio Reyes is the founder of Latin Motion, the biggest salsa outfit in the Midlands since it was established in the early 1990's. Mauricio has been dancing and listening to salsa all of his life and has been teaching salsa dance since the tender age of 17. As a DJ he is guaranteed to read the crowd, spinning a broad range of top salsa, from NY to LA, Colombian to Cuban, etc. SALSA pa' bailar - dura pero sabrosa!

Mauricio has been DJ-ing since 1994, playing and teaching regularly all over the Midlands, the UK and abroad. He is a regular DJ at some of the UKs biggest salsa events, and has been awarded:

Sagi Iluz

Sagi Iluz is the founder of The Scottish Salsa Congress, the biggest salsa event in Scotland. Sagi Iluz started salsa in 1999. He fell in love with the dance pretty much straight away and so became extremely passionate about learning it! He started to travel as much as he possibly could, taking lessons with Super Mario, Leon Ross, Yamulee, Santo Rico, Cobo Brothers and many more. He started teaching in Scotland in 2000. Sagi's style of dancing has been described as "smooth", "debonair" and "slick" so the name "Salsa Suave" was very befitting!

Sagi's love and passion for the music is very apparent in not only his teaching but also in his dancing. He is well known for making his followers feel as if they are the best dancer in the world. Sagi is also a lot of fun on the dance floor.
